Photography in the old days wasnt always easy...
I´ve seen this image quite often recently, in discussions on staged photography from the beginning of this century. This image is supposedly of Anti-Franco militiaman Federico Borrell Garcia at the moment of his death during the Spanish Civil War, September 5, 1936. The interesting twist though, which makes many doubt this image is of the actual event, is that at this time cameras werent made with a shutterspeed fast enough to capture a man falling in action. Therefor many believe that photographers instead had to stage the insidents. Interesting stuff...
